The Skills Development Symposium is an initiative aimed at catalysing debate and conversations around the skills that are necessary for South Africa's economy t grow and become globally competitive.
Investing in our human resources, particularly our young people, is critical to growing the production capability of our country, activating industrial policy and growing local businesses. The Skills Development Symposium will serve as a national platform to device a forward in this regards.
The symposium aims to develop a clear programme of action that will bring together various stakeholder to:
- Foster skills development in the formal economy for productivity and employment growth.
- Stimulate and support skills development in small businesses.
- Promote skills development for employability and sustainable livelihoods through social development initiatives.
- Build initiatives and cooperatives that will assist new entrants into employment on how they can build capacity to contribute in STEM related sectors.
