SAYEC welcomes new young leaders to its executive team

On the 10th of May, SAYEC embarked on a nationwide recruitment process to diversify the executive team and capacitate the organisation. We receieved over 2000 applications from passionate, qualified and skilled young people who are ready to lead the youth of South Africa out of the quagmire of unemployment and poverty.


After a rigorous recruitment process, we're pleased to announce the following new members of the South African Youth Economic Council executive structure:


Ms Buhle Geleba: National Spokesperson

Ms Anele Satsha: Head of Economic Policy and Research

Ms Qhama Qwesha: Stakeholder Relations Officer


National Spokesperson: Ms Buhle Geleba


Buhle Geleba is a seasoned broadcaster and producer for renowned television platforms in South Africa. Ms Geleba is a creative with a media experience in both radio and television. 


She has served on various boards and committees for the upliftment of girls in disadvantaged communities particularly in the townships and rural Easter Cape. 


She is a United Nations Population Fund Youth Advisory Panel Member on advocacy in sexual and reproductive health rights for young people and women. Ms Geleba is currently a candidate for MA Cultural Policy & Management at Wits University. 


Head of Economic Policy & Research: Ms Anele Satsha


Anele Satsha is an accomplished academic and young professional in the field of economics. Currently pursuing a Master's degree at the University of Witwatersrand with a focus on Applied Development Economics. 


With a background in consulting, advisory, and economic research, she serves in the Research and Advisory Department at Xesibe Holdings and as a Research Assistant for MISTRA. 


Anele’s projects span across both the private and public sectors, embedding economic development in a wide array of industry-specific strategies. Looking ahead, she is poised to contribute her expertise to finance and banking as a Business Intelligence Analyst in the coming year.





Stakeholder Relations Officer: Ms Qhama Qwesha


Qhama is a dynamic professional with a rich academic background and a fervent commitment to sustainable development and inclusive organisational practices. She holds a Masters Degree in African Literature, a Joint Honors degree in Development Studies and International Relations, and a Bachelor of Arts triple major in Political Studies, International Relations, and African Literature from the University of the Witwatersrand. 


Qhama boasts a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education. This unique blend of qualifications reflects a holistic approach to addressing complex global challenges.


With a solid academic foundation, Qhama has experience in developmental work, partnerships, and advocacy.  She is dedicated to collaborative efforts, with a particular emphasis on fostering connections between the public and private sectors.


We look forward to working with the three dynimaic and skilled young women in making the work of SAYEC impactful and effective.
